What preserve, released-bird and high-fence hunts are, and why listings say “as advertised”.

Released birds

Most upland preserves release pen-raised pheasant, quail or chukar before or during a hunt, often charging per bird. Many states license these preserves separately and allow longer seasons on them. Ask what license you need.

High-fence and exotic hunts

Some ranches hunt inside a game-proof fence, and some offer exotic species. Fence size, terrain and how game is managed vary widely. Ask the operator directly and check state rules.

Wild game

Fair chase hunts of wild animals depend on season, weather and pressure. Results vary.

How Where2Hunt labels these

We show game source and fence status only as the operator or a register states it. When a listing says “Not stated”, that means we do not know. It never means wild or free range.

General information, not legal advice. Hunting laws vary by state and change every year; confirm with the state wildlife agency. See an error? Tell us.
